AT&T and Jasper Wireless have launched a combined platform to connect and support a range of consumer electronic and business devices on AT&T’s wireless network.
AT&T said that the multi-year agreement will enable the wireless connection of personal navigation, in-car navigation, e-readers, mobile internet devices, gaming, healthcare, tracking, and other devices.
According to AT&T, the Control Center, powered by Jasper Wireless will allow entry for connected devices while offering features such as instant activation and flexible rate plans that is expected to benefit device manufacturers and end-user customers, including small businesses and enterprises.
Through a suite of applications and services, the new platform offers automated management capabilities for device manufacturers, including: instant activation, usage analytics, flexible business models, design services, and customer support, the company said.
Reportedly, the partnership was led by AT&T’s Emerging Devices Organisation. It is key component of AT&T, engaged to further grow AT&T’s wireless penetration and develop new distribution models — and in association with AT&T Business Solutions it builds on AT&T’s work over the past decade with enterprise customers to enable devices to access its wireless network.
Glenn Lurie, president of emerging device and resale at AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, said: We’re streamlining the process by offering a one-stop solution for network provisioning, device activation, customer support, billing options, performance audits and much more. Consumers and businesses will benefit from an unprecedented end-user experience – instant activation, flexible pricing options, and customised support.”
