AT&T, BT, and Tata Communications have conducted multipoint, intercompany Cisco TelePresence meeting across multiple carrier networks, aiming at delivering Cisco TelePresence services, worldwide.

AT&T, BT and Tata, together with Cisco, have demonstrated the technical ability for a TelePresence user to call others on any carrier network in a secured manner. Cisco claimed that the inter-carrier intercompany services are capable of allowing its TelePresence users to call one another across participating networks.

The demonstration at Cisco Live 2009 consisted of inter-carrier Cisco TelePresence connections between the AT&T TelePresence Solution sites in Bedminster and Morristown, N.J. and Chicago, Illinois; a BT site in Colorado Springs; a Cisco site at Cisco Live in San Francisco; and Tata sites in Boston and London on AT&T, BT and Tata Communication’s networks.

This demonstration is considered to be a part of Cisco’s strategy to bring its TelePresence services to the potential users. More than 350 organisations have selected TelePresence for more than 2,300 rooms to streamline collaboration and productivity. Cisco has also installed more than 500 TelePresence rooms on its own internal network.
