Apple is reportedly planning to make its entry into to the electric car market, after its merger and acquisition chief Adrian Perica met Tesla CEO Elon Musk last spring, new report claims.

Citing a report, the San Francisco Chronicle claimed that the latest move comes amidst the iPhone maker’s efforts to expand further than the design and production of consumer devices.

In June 2013, Apple considered introducing iOS to vehicles and collaborated with BMW, Daimler, Mercedes and Honda to manufacture iOS powered smart dashboards.

The iPhone maker also partnered with Tesla to offer its mapping technology, along with Audi and Toyota.

In October 2013, Apple’s hardware vice president Doug Field left the company to assist the US automaker in building new models.

The publication also reveals Apple’s particular interest in medicine and is developing a device in collaboration with audio engineer Tomlinson Holman to study the sound made by blood when flowing through arteries and project heart attacks.
