Amazon Web Services (AWS) has unveiled its Direct Connect service in the UK, which would let customers purchase their personal network connection directly through the Amazon Web Services’ data centre bypassing public internet for transferring information.

By connecting directly to an AWS region customers can reduce their network costs and it will improve bandwidth throughput and provide a more stable network experience which is better than across the internet, according to AWS sources.

The customers in UK can connect to Amazon Web Services’ EU West (Ireland) region through the Telecity Sovereign House data centre at a port speed of either 1Gbps or 10Gbps.

Besides, the company has also plans for new Direct Connect centres for Equinix, Tokyo and Singapore for Asia Pacific and from Coresite One, Los Angeles for US West. A few more locations are lined up for this year, but details have not been disclosed, according to ZD Net.

Amazon said by using AWS Direct Connect, a customer can establish private connectivity between AWS and your data centre, office, or colocation environment.
