ADVA optical networking has released a new version of FSP 3000 product, which it claims to drive high-speed connectivity required to address the bandwidth of cloud-based data centre interconnect environment.

The company claims that the new product enables operators to provide ultra-high bandwidth between data centres and remote backup locations. It empowers an operator to choose any transport protocol at any rate and transport it over a fully tunable long-haul DWDM channel. It also offers optional encryption.

With point and click provisioning, the FSP 3000 can deliver speeds that range from 1, 2, 4, 8 to 10Gbit/s, while addressing all storage interfaces currently in use in data centres, including fibre channel, infiniband and ethernet, among others, the company said.

In addition, the new offering is a scalable wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system specifically designed for service providers and large enterprises that require a system that will multiplex, transport and protect high-speed data, storage, voice and video applications.

Christoph Glingener, chief technology officer of ADVA optical networking, said: In the context of Cloud Computing, the network is a critical asset and the selection of the right transport technology is vitally important. Most existing multi-protocol platforms require protocol conversion and add significant latency to the network. Our new FSP 3000 does not.

We provide software-provisionable transport with minimum latency. This is imperative for cloud computing environments and all run-time sensitive applications. And like all previous releases, the FSP 3000 is qualified in all IBM mainframe and server-clustering applications. This is a strong solution that data center managers and network operators will benefit from tremendously.
