Accenture has introduced a new offering for Mediaset, an Italy-based commercial broadcaster, which will enable the broadcaster to provide Over-the-Top services for PC, TV and other mobile devices.

The new offering will enable Mediaset to deliver video content to additional platforms including PCs, mobile, gaming consoles and connected TVs.

It allows Mediaset customers to access linear content, and non-linear services including: Catch-up TV, Video on Demand and Virtual Linear Channels on the TV set.

Mediaset is leveraging on Accenture Video Solution to deliver both linear content through the broadcast network and advanced interactive services through an open broadband IP network on set top boxes.

The Accenture Video Solution facilitates in launching new non-linear video services and also supports advanced apps including: targeted advertising, personalised content recommendation and adaptive streaming, depending on available bandwidth.

Accenture media and entertainment industry group global broadcast lead Francesco Venturini said the offering will enable new ways for Mediaset to enhance customer relationships, strengthen customer loyalty especially with younger generations.

"It will boost advertising-generated revenues and content usage, all critical objectives for broadcasters as the role of the television continues to evolve from home television to personal television," Venturini said.
