Cypress Semiconductor Corp, San Jose, California has opened a UK technical support centre to service its European customer base. The centre, in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, will provide programming and design support to users of Cypress’s UltraLogic Flash370 CPLDs, Complex Programmable Logic Devices, and pASIC380 FPGAs, Field Programmable Gate Arrays. As well as providing support for its own proprietary chip designs with its VHDL Hardware Description Language Tool, Warp 2, the centre will also support third party tools. Current support for Synopsys Inc and Exemplar Inc design tools is now in place for both pASIC and FPGA devices, with pASIC only tool support for Intergraph Corp. The centre will also carry out conversion of program logic device source code from Data I/O Corp to Flash370. Cypress plans to introduce Mentor Graphics Inc and Cadence Corp design libraries towards the end of the year. Support is currently carried out by three engineers and the company plans to hire two additional employess by the end of the year.
