Hatfield, UK-based Computacenter’s largest business unit, technology sourcing, reported a 10.5% drop in revenue, to GBP893.8m ($1.6bn) from GBP998.8m ($1.8bn) in the first six months of 2004. Sales in the company’s infrastructure integration division were also disappointing, down 10% to GBP52.8m ($96.2m).

Computacenter’s managed services operation performed better, however, growing revenue 3.8% to GBP205m ($373.4m) from GBP197.4m ($359.6m) in the same period the previous year. Managed services now contribute 17.8% to Computacenter’s total revenue.

Sales fell in all Computacenter’s major geographic markets. In France, revenue fell 14.2% to GBP126.2m ($229.9m), while UK sales dipped 5.7% to GBP715.5m ($1.3bn). In Germany, Computacenter’s second largest territory, the company made an operating loss of GBP1.5m ($2.7m), compared to a profit of GBP2.5m ($4.6m) in the same period the previous year, on revenue that fell 3.8% to GBP300m ($546.6m).
