Computacenter has won a five-year contract from transport operator FirstGroup to provide a range of desktop services that aims to support business growth, minimise costs and enhance the end user experience.

FirstGroup is one of the Britain’s largest bus and rail operator, with four passenger rail franchises: First Great Western, First Capital Connect, First TransPennine Express and ScotRail.

The contract includes a central service desk, deskside support and product supply, and covers 5,500 users at 650 offices, railway stations and bus depots throughout the UK.

As part of the service, Computacenter will assist FirstGroup in developing its IT strategy and advise on new innovative technologies that can improve efficiency and enhance the quality of IT services.

Request, incident, problem and asset management will be provided from Computacenter’s service desk in Milton Keynes.

The IT services and offerings company will also be responsible for provisioning hardware, including desktops and laptops.

The service is expected to go live in Q1 2011.
