San Jose, California-based Compression Labs Inc has announced a new family of multipoint conferencing products and enhancements. The Compression Labs Multimedia Conference Server range with Version 5.0 software has expanded network communications options, easier conference management, and enhanced diagnostic capabilities in a multi-site environment. When used only with Compression Labs’s Rembrandt II/VP codecs, Radiance, and Eclipse systems, the Server supports the coder-decoder’s highest quality video algorithms such as H.CTX and H.CTX Plus, providing 480 lines of video quality resolution. The Compression Labs Multimedia Conference Servers support T.120 data conferencing terminals enabling conference participants to view, annotate, change data, spreadsheets, text, or graphic images simultaneously. They are also claimed to provide multipoint videoconferencing capabilities, enabling participants to view four sites simultaneously while connecting up to 24 audio calls per video teleconference. Basic Rate Interface ISDN communication is included, and enhanced Conference Server diagnostic capabilities are claimed to provide a real-time display of hardware module and network line status. The Continuous Presence option costs $25,000 ; prices for the T.120 option range from $22,250 for 12 users. Compression Labs’s Version 5.0 Conference Server software is priced at $12,500 as an upgrade for customers with Version 4.0 software.
