The two companies have also announced the beta release of the Windows version of the Zend Core for Oracle, and are hoping to replicate the success of the beta program for the Unix and Linux version, which saw 1,200 commercial downloads in six weeks.

The Zend Core for Oracle is a tested PHP development and production environment for creating PHP applications that will be tightly integrated with the Oracle Database, and includes an updated OC18 driver for interfacing between Zend and Oracle.

Cupertino, California-based Zend is providing support for the product via its Zend Network service and support system, while the product is also compatible with the Zend Platform management console and Zend Studio IDE.

Zend Core for Oracle is generally available now for IBM Corp’s AIX, Sun Microsystems Inc’s Solaris, and Linux, while the beta version for Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003 is available from the Oracle Technology Network web site.

Zend and Oracle announced in May that they were working together on the product. The Zend Core for IBM, which integrates Zend with IBM’s DB2 and Cloudscape database products, was released in July.
