Cloud client computing provider Wyse Technology has released the public beta of its PocketCloud application for the Android operating system that features VMware View 4 and RDP 7 support.

The company said that its mobile remote desktop application allows end users to access Windows PCs, remote desktop services and virtualised desktop infrastructures based on the Microsoft RDP protocol. It integrates into an already-established VMware View host environment, included integrated enterprise-level security, and does not require any special setup or software installed.

Wyse said that PocketCloud enables users to remotely run their PC desktop or virtual desktop from a variety of hosts, including VMware View, Microsoft Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise & Ultimate, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Business and Remote Desktop Services in all Windows Server products. It is VMware Ready Certified for VMware View available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

According to the company, its new beta version features support for popular Android devices including the Motorola Droid, HTC Incredible, Google Nexus One, HTC Hero and Sprint HTC EVO. It also embodies dynamic compression, optimised for 3G and Wi-Fi connections; enterprise grade security: 128-bit encryption and FIPS support; direct connections and tunneling with TLS/SSL encryption; mouse touch pointer; and experimental support for RSA Two-Factor Authentication.

Daniel Barreto, chief software architect at Wyse, said: "Today’s professionals are already on call 24/7, so it’s gratifying to hear from so many Wyse PocketCloud users how their jobs are made easier and more convenient with our app. We are now extending the unique capabilities of Wyse PocketCloud in light of the explosive growth in Android-based mobile platforms."
