VM6 Software has released VMex Enterprise Edition, which leverages Microsoft Hyper-V to create an internal cloud to provision, consolidate, manage and protect Robo workloads.

With the single console to manage the entire enterprise, or each site individually, administrators have the ability to easily manage up to 65,000 distributed objects, the company claims.

VM6 VMex provides virtualisation, shared storage (virtual SAN) as well as high availability and failover all within a single and simple software package. It requires two standard x86 servers with Microsoft Windows Server 2008(R). It does not require external storage, third party software for replication, VDI broker and management.

According to VM6 Software, the features of the new enterprise edition software include a telecommunication function that supports a number of sites, enables the local infrastructure to scale up to 32 nodes and supports virtual shared storage in each site. With the embedded virtual desktop infrastructure brokering for the needs of remote or branch offices, it removes the dependency on wide area networks and allows for a portfolio of desktop and virtualised servers, and reduces resource utilisation.

In addition, it also includes enterprise IT management console with monitoring and alerting features and default monitoring and recovery plans. Administrators can get a consolidated health assessment of the entire enterprise. The new VMex software can also be configured so that alerts can trigger external commands or power shell scripts.

Claude Goudreault, founder and CEO of VM6 Software, said: This new release of VM6 VMex Enterprise adds the features and functionality that makes VM6 VMex a true enterprise-grade solution.

With VM6 VMex Enterprise Edition, enterprise IT leaders have a single solution for managing, provisioning, consolidating, and protecting their distributed servers and desktop environment across all of their locations for a fraction of the cost associated with traditional solutions.
