DataCentred has teamed up with cloud service broker Storage Made Easy to provide complementary Software as a Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) to the UK public sector via the government’s G-Cloud platform.
DataCentred is involved with building and operating large-scale public and private cloud infrastructures that are powered by Open Source software, and Storage Made Easy integrates public and private file sharing into a single storage infrastructure.
With the partnership, the companies will work together to provide a secure file sharing alternative for government and educational institutions.
It will allow customers to store, as well as manage, data in a secure and scalable environment through a user-friendly interface.
Both solutions can be easily integrated, managed and utilised to set secure governance and compliance controls.
According to Storage Made Easy CEO Jim Liddle, 70% of the CIOs consider cloud data security as a major concern, which makes businesses want to have full control over their information.
The company claims that its IaaS solution has been tested and validated to work on DataCentred’s cloud to provide secure, reliable and responsive file storage.
DataCentred CEO Dr Mike Kelly said: "DataCentred’s collaboration with Storage Made Easy is a fantastic example of two innovative UK-based SMEs working to address the evolving cloud computing and data storage requirements of businesses today.
"Through the government’s G-Cloud platform, public sector customers now have access to state of the art solutions, which will significantly benefit businesses hosting files in uncontrolled environments."
