Deutsche Telekom’s IT subsidiary T-Systems, an ICT provider, has signed a seven-year contract with British American Tobacco to offer increased flexibility at work and cost reduction.
British American Tobacco uses SAP systems to operate its businesses. In a two-year period, the two companies will transition the business software into the cloud, said T-Systems.
The SAP services will now complement the British American Tobacco’s cyclical demands and will couple cost to real usage.
The deal will allow T-Systems to consolidate currently ten international British American Tobacco data centres into three global data centres in Europe, Asia and South America.
British American Tobacco CIO Phil Colman said the company’s IT strategy focuses on a single portfolio of connected applications running on standardised contemporary technology to drive advantage across the business.
"This agreement with T-Systems will help us to deliver that strategy," said Colman.
