SuccessFactors, a provider of performance and talent management solutions, has entered into Software as a Service (SaaS) contract with Siemens. This deal is expected to be one of the biggest deals for SaaS.
Siemens said that the project is a strategic board level initiative to develop and leverage the strengths of its employees and foster leadership as part of its FIT4 2010 strategic programme.
Siemens has purchased a global enterprise subscription of virtually all of SuccessFactors modules to link strategy to executed business results with its worldwide corporate talent management vision, for 420,000 users across 80 countries in 20 different languages.
Siemens said that it will replace its several existing talent systems with different modules in the SuccessFactors’ cloud platform, some of which include goal management, performance management, career development planning, compensation management, variable pay, succession planning and recruiting management.
Earlier this month, SuccessFactors has announced that WellStar Health System will deploy SuccessFactors to manage the performance of more than 11,000 employees. It has also selected SuccessFactors’ modules for managing goal setting, succession planning, compensation management and career and development planning.
Till now, Siemens had a long-term partnership with SAP and has implemented various applications from SAP. Its sudden shift to SuccessFactors ‘SaaS’ is expected to be a big blow for SAP.
On the other side, SAP has won a contract with EnWin Utilities, an electricity distributer for the city of Windsor, Ontario. EnWin Utiliities is replacing its Oracle and IBM software with the SAP ERP application, SAP for Utilities and solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
