Siemens Enterprise Communications, a provider of enterprise communications, has launched OpenScape UC Server 2010, optimised for the data centre and virtualised environments.
The company claims that the OpenScape UC Server 2010 is designed to help address data centre challenges of eliminating barriers between different communications and business applications, optimising hardware resources, as well as help deployment models such as cloud computing, simpler and more affordable. It can be deployed as a set of virtual machines into the common hardware environment.
According to Siemens, the new UC server can simplify deployment of OpenScape UC Server offerings on multiple virtual machines, supporting fault tolerance and automation of network tasks. It expands the ability of an enterprise to integrate with other business applications by its service oriented architecture (SOA) and OpenScape Fusion range of software-based packaged integrations.
In addition, the server can unify web collaboration systems, non-Siemens Enterprise Communications UC systems, cloud-based social media tools and business portals.
In addition, the company also introduced OpenScape 4000 Convergence Driver, a virtualised software-based offering that supports the traditional telephony features of the HiPath 4000 converged-IP voice platform, Siemens said.
In a move to further simplify migration, HiPath 4000 customers will benefit from OpenScape Flex Licensing which will allow them to convert their existing licenses into OpenScape Voice at no additional cost, the company said.
