SAP has launched an update 2.6 for the SAP Business ByDesign offering.
The update is an advancement in teh company’s cloud computing portfolio providing an open platform for its partners to develop new add-ons, while also enabling SAP to develop new on-demand offerings for various lines of business, said the company.
The new release features improvements in usability, support for additional mobile devices and on-demand integration of subsidiary operations into on-premise installations at headquarters.
By launching this release, SAP takes another step in executing its cloud computing strategy and further delivers on its product strategy to extend the availability of business software across on-premise installations, on-demand offerings and a variety of mobile devices, said the company.
With the service, claims the company, approximately 80% of all project-specific adaptations such as adjusting the user interface, building forms and adjusting business processes can be completed by key users without programming.
For the remaining 20%, SAP has also introduced a new version of the software development kit (SDK) SAP Business ByDesign studio, which will enable partners to create complete add-on solutions.
The new version of SAP Business ByDesign delivers new benefits including integration for subsidiaries, platform for line-of-business offerings, extended mobile support, and in-memory expansion.
The company said that users of dashboard app for feature pack 2.6 can access and consume complete analytical business information, enabling them to react to changes and make informed decisions.
The app provides worksheets to arrange and organise reports, as well as annotations, notes, e-mail and voice notes for collaboration with colleagues.
A compare function enables access to previous versions of customer data, including the ability to highlight significant changes in data based on a predefined threshold that can easily be changed by a fingertip. The dashboard app will be free to download from the Apple iTunes store and available in demo mode for non-SAP Business ByDesign customers.
SAP on demand and corporate officer executive vice president Peter Lorenz said with feature pack 2.6, they are not only delivering additional value to their users, but are also providing new opportunities for co-innovation to their partners.
"As we have now moved to a cycle of delivering a new feature pack every six months, the next big step in our SAP Business ByDesign roadmap will be the general availability of feature pack 3.0 in August," Lorenz said.
