Compute, networking and storage servers manufacturer Quanta QCT has partnered with Bright Computing to deliver new HPC clusters.

Bright Computing makes software for managing groups of computer servers and associated equipment.

The new clusters are based on Quanta’s QCT’s STRATOS S810-X52L servers and are designed to be operational within an hour of unpacking in addition they are delivered pre-configured and pre-tested.

STRATOS S810-X52L server is a dense multi-node 2U server that includes four individual 2-socket server nodes in a 2U rack chassis with each node capable of populating up to 16 DIMM slots.

Quanta QCT’s multi-node 2U server is powered by the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family, enhancing its performance by up to 80% compared to a previous generation Intel Xeon processor-based server.

The new clusters include Bright Cluster Manager providing an integrated application for provisioning, job scheduling, monitoring and management application while for management of these systems a little expertise in Linux or HPC is required.

The cluster user can either extend the Quanta QCT system into Amazon EC2 or create an entirely new HPC cluster in the cloud. Bright manages these resources as part of the Quanta QCT cluster.

Quanta QCT has chosen Bright because the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family development team worked with Bright when building all of the test clusters during the processor development process. Bright also provides Quanta QCT customers with cloud readiness as a standard feature.

Quanta QCT Sales and Marketing senior director Nelson Wang said, "Choosing Bright Computing as our partner enables us to offer our customers a proven solution to help them get the most out of Quanta clusters, with the least amount of effort."

Bright Computing CEO Matthijs van Leeuwen said, "The launch of turnkey HPC clusters that enable their users to focus on their work, rather than on managing their clusters, is a compelling step forward."
