Research from Gartner has predicted that the mature APJ regions are set to increase public cloud services to $7.4 billion in 2015, with cloud management and security services expected to grow 29% in 2015 to $264.5 million.

By 2018, Gartner predicts that total public cloud spending in the mature APJ region will rise to $11.5 billion.

Ed Anderson, research vice president at Gartner said: "Many countries in the mature Asia/Pacific Japan region have solid reliable telecommunications infrastructure and relatively advanced usage profiles. Despite challenges in the global economy, we expect consistent and stable growth to continue through to 2018."

By 2018, BPaaS cloud services will constitute 9.2% of the overall public cloud services market in APJ, PaaS will represent 3% of the market and SaaS is expected to account for 21.5%.

Cloud management/security will have a predicted share of 4%, with IaaS standing at 9.8%. The remaining 52.5% will come from cloud advertising.

Fred Ng, senior research analyst at Gartner said: "Increased intra-region integration in APJ across services and industries will drive public cloud usage as countries in this region break down borders through trade bloc agreements such as the ASEAN Economic Integration 2015 and the Trans Pacific Partnerships, which will drive more mobility, big data sharing and analytics and public cloud infrastructure and applications to support these initiatives."

Cloud management, storage and SaaS will be among the faster growing public cloud services through 2018, as more enterprise and government users jump onto cloud services.
