Oracle has introduced a new intelligent monitoring and management software, StorageTek Tape Analytics for its StorageTek tape libraries.
The new software eliminates manual intervention to simplify tape management and allows customers to make decisions about their tape infrastructure, and reduce downtime and data management resources.
StorageTek Tape Analytics software captures library, drive and media performance metrics and presents them in a single frame and also prevents data loss through identifying the potential problems as well as providing immediate recommendations.
The new StorageTek software will enable Oracle customers to monitor tape infrastructure globally from a single analytics management server deployment and it is ideal for customers with cloud deployments who use tape for backup or archive.
It also monitors tape infrastructure health without purging historical health data to make room for monitoring new devices.
Oracle’s new release will utilise management server to gather performance information directly from tape libraries rather than cutting into the data path and creating a separate monitoring environment, the company said.
StorageTek Tape Analytics software is available for Oracle’s StorageTek Modular Library Systems.
