NetSuite has moved away from Amazon Web Services to partner with Microsoft and use its Azure cloud platform.
Under the partnership Microsoft will integrate NetSuite’s cloud-based ERP software which is used to track financial, supply chain and other operational data, into Office 365.
Azure will become the preferred platform for NetSuite to build its custom software enhancements.
The deal was made public during NetSuite’s annual SuiteWorld conference where Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that the: "…strategic cloud partnership connects our Office and Azure platforms to bring together ERP and productivity in the cloud.
Customers will immediately benefit from reduced security risks and being able to do more with Azure."
Meanwhile, Zach Nelson, NetSuite CEO, stated that: "Microsoft has projects in big data and ecommerce and others where we are going to find ways to partner with them."
While this deal does signify a move away from AWS, it was made clear that customers will still be able to use it and other systems for hosting.
By the end of 2015, NetSuite will migrate from AWS and on-premise deployments to Azure.
