Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced HPE Haven OnDemand, a new machine learning-as-a-service.

HPE Haven OnDemand is a cloud platform which will make available advanced machine learning APIs and services to allow developers, startups and enterprises to build mobile and enterprise application.

HPE Big Data, Hewlett Packard Enterprise senior vice President and general manager Colin Mahony said: "The software industry is on the cusp of a new era of breakthroughs, driven by machine learning that will power data-driven applications across all facets of life.

"HPE Haven OnDemand democratises big data by bringing the power of machine learning, traditionally reserved for high-end, highly trained data scientists, to the mainstream developer community.

"Now, anyone can leverage our easy to use cloud-based service to harness the rich variety of data available today to build applications that produce new insights, differentiate businesses, delight customers and deliver competitive advantage."

HPE Haven OnDemand will be offered as a service on the Microsoft Azure platform which will allow developers to build data-rich applications in an easier way.

It will offer 60 APIs and services which will provide deep learning analytics on a wide range of data, including text, audio, image, social, web and video.

All the APIs and services offered with Haven OnDemand have been hosted on Microsoft Azure as per the deal signed between the two companies in December 2015.

HPE Haven OnDemand comes with features like advanced text analysis, format conversion, search on-demand, enterprise-search-as-a-service, image recognition and face detection, knowledge graph analysis as well as predict and recommend.

HPE launched HPE Haven OnDemand in beta on December 2014, with the service now boasting more than 12,750 registered developers.

It has adopted a freemium model for the service which allows development and testing for free, while also offering SLA-based commercial pricing model for enterprise class delivery to support production deployments.

HPE Haven OnDemand is being used to build hundreds of innovative applications including, Ayni – an app for facilitating cultural exchange and foreign language education, speed dating app Blink, and Social Capital – an app for human resources social assessments.
