Microsoft has reiterated its commitment to Windows 10 Mobile and said that it is currently working on next generation products.
In an internal email, obtained by Windows Central, Microsoft executive vice president of Windows and Devices Group , Terry Myerson said that the company is devoted to Windows 10 on mobile for many years.
The company plans to deliver Windows on mobile devices with small screen running ARM processors.
Myerson said: "We believe in this product’s value to business customers and it is our intention to support the Windows 10 Mobile platform for many years.
"We have a device roadmap to support that from Microsoft as well as our OEM partners who will also be selling an expanded lineup of phone devices based on this platform.
Microsoft is facing a lot of challenges from its competitors through Google and Apple and criticism from its customers and developers.
Microsoft is currently under severe pressure to attract more people to its platform, facing stiff competetion from Apple and Google.
Research firm IDC predicts that combined, Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android will own about 98% of the global smartphone market this year, leaving Windows 10 with only 1.6% share.
By 2020, Windows market share is anticipated to decline to 0.9%.
Windows 10 Mobile has a long way to go in order to compete with rivals.. The sales of Microsoft Lumia have also been falling drastically in the recent times.
The company sold just 2.3 million Lumias in the recent quarter, a 73% decline from the 8.6 million sold in the year-ago period.
Despite the dropping sales, Microsoft apparently has no plans to revive the Lumia brand.
Last month, Myerson said in an interview to The Verge that Microsoft is not focused on Windows phone, at least for this year.
The latest email indicates that Microsoft primarily sees value in Windows 10 Mobile for business customers.
Microsoft recently released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14332 for both PC and Mobile to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.
