LogMeIn, the developer of mobile remote access app LogMeIn Ignition has unveiled a new service that the company says helps organisations enable and manage secure access to corporate computers and data from personal devices entering the workplace.
The new service pairs access to applications, files and important data with control of users and their mobile devices including iPad and iPhone.
Organisations can now implement policies to control users’ access to corporate data, while providing device owners with more mobile access benefits than simple email and calendar functions.
Delivered through LogMeIn’s management suite, LogMeIn Central, and taking advantage of the remote access capabilities in LogMeIn Ignition, organisations can grant or restrict user access to individual computers, authorise specific iOS devices for users or groups, and block or discontinue access from any user or device.
The cloud-based service eliminates the need for on-premise deployments, making it possible to quickly and easily start managing any number of devices.
The initial set of services include the ability to enrol individually owned or IT procured iOS devices into an organisation’s mobile inventory; and authorise individual iOS devices for remote access to one or more company computers
It will also include manage remote access rights and permissions by user, computer, and mobile device; control whether files can be remotely transferred from remote computers to individual mobile devices and handle lost or stolen devices by remotely wiping stored credentials.
LogMeIn VP of Access & Management Andrew Burton said by combining the benefits of LogMeIn Ignition with visibility and control over how employees access their applications and data, organisations can expand the benefits of mobility to all their users, whether individuals bring their own iPads to the workplace or the iPads are provided to them.
