Lenovo has launched two new rack servers, including the ThinkServer RD540 and ThinkServer RD640, which are suitable for handling demanding virtualisation, cloud and compute-intensive workloads.
Powered by the new Intel Xeon E5 processors, the new server range comes with high-performance hardware RAID for data protection, web-enabled remote management and a management tool suite that allow offering performance suitable for scale-out data analytics, virtualised business workloads, and compute intensive applications.
Lenovo Enterprise Product Group vice president and general manager Roy Guillen said the two servers feature enterprise-class performance and features, leverage proven technology from partners like LSI and VMware and are available in many new countries globally.
"These workhorse servers are a winning choice for customers who demand no-compromise performance and open standards-based architecture to fit easily in their hybrid networks," he said.
Supporting configurations including 16TB hard disk capacity and new I/O expansion choices, the new ThinkServer RD540 server handles business analytics, web server or virtualised workloads.
ThinkServer RD640 features an additional PCIe slot and 32TB storage capacity, which makes it capable of deployment for cloud, compute or virtualisation.
