Data integration software provider Informatica has expanded its existing product portfolio to offer Universal Data Replication offering to its customers.

Data replication is the process of real-time data sharing to ensure consistency between redundant database resources to improve reliability, fault-tolerance, latency and accessibility.

The new offering is expected to give customers more options to meet business continuity, big data and operational data integration needs.

A part of the Informatica Platform, Informatica’s new data replication technology includes Informatica Fast Clone and Informatica Data Replication.

While Informatica Fast Clone automates the cloning of application data, Informatica Data Replication manages the capture, routing and delivery of high-volume transaction data across diverse systems in real time with minimal source system impact, said the company.

The company added high-speed cloning and replication of big transaction data into new-generation analytic appliances including EMC Greenplum, HP Vertica, IBM Netezza and Teradata will help customers more rapidly derive business value from the exploding volumes of data in today’s transactional systems such as IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL, Oracle and legacy databases.

Informatica Data Integration senior vice-president and general manager Sachin Chawla said Informatica Fast Clone and Informatica Data Replication expand Informatica’s addressable market, advancing the company’s leadership in data integration.

Chawla added, "Combined with our existing Cloud Replication, PowerCenter Real Time and PowerExchange Change Data Capture (CDC) products, our Universal Data Replication capabilities offer our customers more choice to fit their needs that range from replication with sophisticated transformation to fast bulk replication. Virtually all organisations consider business continuity and improved operational reporting to be highly important and we are now better armed to support those initiatives."
