IBM has launched new cloud-based IT services, intended to makeing it easier for enterprises to deploy Apple Macs.
The announcement is part of the partnership between Apple and IBM. The new offering from IBM MobileFirst Managed Mobility Services will help large enterprises in integrating Macs within their IT infrastructures.
The new services will enable clients to order Macs and get them delivered directly to their employees, eliminating the need of additional set-up, imaging or configuration.
IBM claims that the move will save time, reduce costs and create a better employee experience.
Employees can then gain network access securely and connect to email and download business apps.
The services also support personally owned Macs that are authorised in a bring-your-own-device situation.
IBM Global Technology Services general manager of infrastructure services Richard Patterson said: "IBM’s new enterprise services ensure a great user experience for clients using Macs, providing world-class support from installation through the life of the product."
The new services feature JAMF Software’s Casper Suite solution, which helps clients rapidly set up and deploy Macs such as MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac, and Mac Pro.
The new offering extrends IBM’s MobileFirst services portfolio, which is designed specifically to support Macs.
It provides OS and image management, software application and update management, an enterprise app catalog, automatic compliance and configuration updates for security.
Users can also access a set of self-help resources such as password reset, chat, and expert knowledge forums, as well as traditional help desk services.
