HP is calling it quits in the public cloud arena in order to focus on offering private and manage cloud capabilities.
The company has said that it will "sunset" its Helion Public Cloud offering on the 31st of January, 2016.
Bill Hilf, GM, HP Cloud, wrote in a blog post to outline the shifting focus to its Managed and Virtual Private Cloud offerings.
The company’s HP Helion OpenStack platform will remain as an area of investment as will the Helion CloudSystem.
The shift comes in response to customer demand for hybrid cloud strategies and the technology capable of supporting it, Hilf said.
Hilf, wrote: "In order to deliver on this demand with best-of-breed public cloud offerings, we will move to a strategic, multiple partner-based model for public cloud capabilities, as a component of how we deliver these hybrid cloud solutions to enterprise customers."
This model can already be seen with its Cloud28+ ecosystem in Europe.
A focus will also be placed on continued support for AWS with Eucalyptus and support for Office 365 and Azure.
AWS and Azure are mentioned twice in relation to support, but no mention is made of Google.
In April, Hilf suggested that the company was giving up on public cloud, only to backtrack a few days later.
Hilf said at the time: "A quote of mine in the media was interpreted as HP is exiting the public cloud, which is not the case."
