Events season is moving along and next up is HP Discover in Las Vegas, but what should we expect from the event?
CBR has compiled a list of what to look out for.
1. The Split
With such a big event for the company and a vital year ahead with the upcoming split into two companies, it is expected that some announcements will be made and questions asked.
Is everything on track for the split to go ahead? Is there likely to be even more job cuts? And is it still likely to help the firm adapt to mobile and online computing?
Many other questions will be raised and many people will be looking for answers.
2. Flash
Last year HP offered up an all-flash storage array, StoreServ 7450 that aimed to make all-flash as affordable as HDD.
This year it is likely that there will be further announcements around this technology, with either an all new array or upgraded solution that offers significant advancements at an even more affordable price.
The technology is seeing more up-take with the likes of San Disk being extremely active, so an HP release could see them take advantage of this market shift.
3. Collaboration
This is almost a certainty, not only because it appears to be something that happens at every major event and multiple times during the year, but because HP is on a drive to work with everyone.
The company has recently joined forces with Microsoft by adding its Enterprise Mobility Suite to its mobility portfolio.
HP has made it clear that it wants to be working with companies that plays to to its adoption plans with wider use of its technology but also providing access to other solutions.
4. Cloud
After the misinterpretation of HP’s public cloud stance, you should expect for a little bit of talk around this. While the event is being held in America, the company’s Cloud 28+ portfolio which operates in Europe is likely to be added to.
The company is clear where it stands with cloud in both the U.S. and in Europe but you can expect more developments on this front to come out of the conference.
Expect a raft of enhanced services or additions to its partner programs that will expand its coverage, it is also likely that we will see a couple of case examples of big new adopters of its services. In February it signed a large deal with Deutsche Bank, so it may be worthwhile keeping an eye on proceedings for some big announcements like this.
5. Open source & Out-of-the-box
As one of the major contributors to OpenStack and open source projects, it is a good bet that there will be more announcements around this area.
With this is mind and previous releases around out-of-the-box solutions, there may well be more developments which are ready for enterprises to use straight from the box.
This is another significant market shift which is seeing companies such as hp do more of the leg work in order to ease adoption for businesses’ which want quickly implemented solutions without the hassle.
