HP has developed a cloud ready desktop-as-a-service operating system for task workers in call centres.
The HP Thin Client, t420, offers a choice of operating system including the Linux based Smart Zero Core and ThinPro as well as Windows Embedded 7.
The fanless solution is set to be valued at $239 in the U.S. and will feature flash memory storage and HP software at no additional cost.
It will also support Voice-over-IP with Microsoft Lync and Unified Communications tools.
Jeff Groudan, worldwide director, Product Management, Thin Clients, HP, said: "In an era where companies are grappling with issues such as global collaboration, privacy regulations and cost control, they need technology that can bring it all together seamlessly."
"Our new t420 is a great value-priced, cloud-ready thin client that’s reliable and easy to use."
In addition to Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, it also offers lower power consumption due to an energy efficient, low halogen design.
