Google has rolled out the beta version of its Cloud Print for mobile documents and Gmail for mobile to allow users to send files to a printer using their mobile phones.
The search engine company had announced Google Cloud Print, a service that allows printing from any app on any device, OS or browser without the need to install any software in April 2010.
Last month, it introduced the feature to users in the Chrome notebook pilot program.
Users can also print email attachments such as .pdf or .doc now, the company said in the official blog.
"Imagine printing an important document from your smartphone on the way to work and finding the printout waiting for you when you walk in the door," the blog added.
The feature is currently available for English speaking users in the US and will work on most phones running Android 2.1+ and iOS 3+ that support HTML5.
To get started, users need to connect their printer to Google Cloud Print. This step requires a Windows PC at present. The company said it would be adding Linux and Mac support soon.
