Google has joined hands with content distribution network providers like CloudFlare, Level 3 Communications, Highwinds and Fastly to slash cost for developers who run their application on its cloud service.

The partnership will cut down the bandwidth cost for transportation of media-rich content from data centre to end users.

Google said its service with CDN Interconnect will allow faster distribution of content from its Cloud Platform.

CDN Interconnect allows certain CDN providers to create direct interconnect links with the search giant’s edge network at various locations.

Level 3 said that the partnership will allow Cloud Platform customers to use Level 3’s CDN for the distribution of cloud-based content.

Level 3’s CDN is said to be fast, secure and reliable and it is capable of meeting the changing bandwidth demand.

It can scale with content volatility and is capable of delivering a flexible storage server solution for publishing live content.

It delivers content in different formats including HTTP, HLS, HDS, DASH, HTTPS, and Smooth Streaming to improve user experience.

Level 3’s CDN also uses Geo and IP Blocking, SSL and DDoS mitigation, Token and User Authentication for security.

By providing access to Level 3’s CDN, Google Cloud Platform customers will get an easier and faster way to deliver content to end users.

It will also provide customers with lower latency experience by providing them access content from the caching location closest to them.

Google Cloud Platform is already a part of Level 3’s global Cloud Connect Solutions ecosystem which provides enterprise-grade connectivity from data centres and enterprise offices to Google Cloud Platform based in Europe, North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Level 3 chief marketing officer Anthony Christie said: "With the continued rise in online and mobile applications has come the explosion of bandwidth-heavy content such as HD video, image-filled Web pages and streaming music, making it even more critical for content companies to use the right infrastructure to provide smooth and fast delivery.

"Through Level 3’s collaboration with Google, customers of Google Cloud Platform now have a seamless way to deliver content to their end users using CDN Interconnect and Level 3’s global CDN network."
