Google Drive has passed 1 million paying customers, marking the occasion with the launch of several updates and new features.
These include the roll out of enhanced eDiscovery capabilities for Google Apps Vault, with retention policies and legal hold capabilities for email and chat now extended to Google Drive files.
This extension will see a limited roll-out now with full availability in the coming months.
Google also added the ISO/IEC 27018:2014 privacy standard to its compliance framework, assuring customers that it doesn’t use data for advertising and that customers have tools to delete and export their data.
As well as being available directly to consumers with a Google account, Google Drive’s customers include the New York Times, Uber, Fossil, Wedding Wire and BBVA.
"Today businesses rely on the cloud to make their work more accessible and collaborative than ever, and they also want it to be more secure," wrote Scott Johnston, Director of Product Management for Google Drive. "We’re committed to making Google Drive the safest place for all of your work."
