Equinix has agreed to buy Nimbo, a New York-based professional services firm, in a bid to help the data centre giant bolster its professional services capabilities.

Nimbo, which earned just under $10m in revenue last year, provides consulting services for enterprises looking to implement hybrid cloud solutions.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Equinix said it plans to use Nimbo’s portfolio to expand its professional service capabilities to support data centre migration, WAN optimisation and hybrid cloud solutions.

"Nimbo has a thriving practice, advising many of the Fortune 100 on their cloud strategies, winning awards for growth and innovation in this space," Equinix’s chief sales officer Peter Hayes said.

"With our acquisition of Nimbo, we have expanded our ability to help customers leverage our unique cloud-density and Cloud Exchange value propositions and assist with the design and deployment of hybrid cloud solutions."

John Shaw, Nimbo’s CEO and co-founder, added: "Over the last five years, Nimbo has built a team of certified cloud consultants with expertise in multiple cloud platforms that enable our customers to think big.

"During this time we have assessed and migrated hundreds of workloads to the Cloud. We are looking forward to working with Equinix to accelerate Hybrid Cloud adoption through a world class cloud professional services organization."

Equinix, which earned $620.4m for the third quarter of 2014, teamed up with Google last November to make Google’s Cloud platform available through Equinix’s Cloud Exchange.
