Digital River has joined forces with Supadü to build out the complete online shopping experience for HarperCollins’ customers and power the publisher’s global commerce.
HarperCollins Publishers recently redesigned its websites to support consumer eBook sales and to better online payments across the US and UK.
The websites, which feature a digital collection of eBooks, are a centerpiece for the leading book publisher’s global campaign, celebrating the life and works of C.S. Lewis.
"Companies today are looking not only for new channels for establishing direct-to-consumer relationships, but also for increasingly flexible ways to go to market – the comprehensive plug-and-play solution that we have built for HarperCollins accomplishes just that," said David Woolenberg, Digital River’s senior vice president of global sales for digital commerce.
"Our work with HarperCollins is directly aligned with Digital River’s transformation plans to evolve our ecosystem of industry partnerships and expand our leadership presence in software and games across new digital product categories. This includes not only publishing, but also other cloud-enabled services such as subscriptions and usage-based billing models."
World Archipelago, a London-based creative technology agency, provided the front end web development for the HarperCollins sites powered by the Supadü CMS platform. The sites are integrated into Digital River’s commerce-as-a-service platform, which is facilitating the ebook transaction, including handling global payments, tax and compliance management, fraud prevention, security and order management.
Chantal Restivo-Alessi, chief digital officer at HarperCollins, said: "Offering a direct to consumer option is another way in which we can service our authors and let them engage with their audiences in as many ways as possible.
"Whether consumers want to make purchases from a brick-and-mortar store, an online retailer, or from an author brand site, we have a solution to meet their needs and to make our authors’ products accessible to them."
HarperCollins C. S. Lewis ebook products, including classics such as The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and His Boy, as well as other popular titles, will be available for purchase directly from www.cslewis.com and www.narnia.com.
