Fans of the Tour de France and data will get their fill of both as Dimension Data publishes its daily data wrap.
The daily wrap, which will be published two hours after the last rider crosses the finishing line, will comprise of data on the riders.
For those that are registered to receive it, they will get information on the stage winner’s top and average speeds as well as time per kilometre.
Other information will show which rider achieved the top speed and the time between the first and last rider.
Dimension Data, the official technology partner for ASO, which owns the Tour de France, will enable fans to follow all the action via the ASO Twitter feed’s real-time data updates.
The data comes from live trackers which are under the saddle of each of the 198 riders and interested fans will even be able to select their favourite rider to follow on their phone or tablet.
It is estimated by the tech company that the riders will generate 42,000 geospatial points and 75 million GPS readings. This will be processed in the company’s cloud platform, in the process consuming over 350,000,000 CPU cycles per second.
