The Korea Times has reported that Samsung has agreed to team with Oracle for mobile cloud services, following reported talks between Samsung Electronics’ mobile chief, Shin Jong-kyun, and Oracle co-CEO Mark Hurd.
An official directly involved with the matter, said to The Korea Times: "As Samsung is the global leader in handsets, Oracle needs the Korean company to boost its database cloud solutions, which the U.S. company identified as one of its next engines."
Samsung already works with companies in retail, healthcare, and government sectors in regards to mobile security, but a partnership with Oracle could bolster its cloud computing efforts.
According to the source, the two firms have tentatively agreed to broaden a partnership on mobile cloud computing services.
Both Samsung and Oracle have declined to comment, with the reported agreement having been denied by both Samsung and Oracle.
