Convio has acquired privately held Baigent Digital, which is a digital strategy, design, technology implementation and online fundraising offerings provider to charities in the UK.

The company notes that there is high demand for integrated, cloud-based offerings with UK charities and expects that the acquisition will provide UK charities with an efficient offerings partner to help raise more money efficiently, conduct effective online marketing campaigns and build stronger relationships with supporters.

Convio said that it will deliver its integrated constituent engagement offering including capabilities for online fundraising, special events fundraising, email marketing, content management and CRM to the UK market.

The company will initially deliver online fundraising, email marketing, CMS and TeamRaiser offering to UK charities, and introduce new product offerings, including CRM, in the future.

Baigent, which was established in 1997, notes that Convio’s offering will incorporate fundraising, marketing, peer-to-peer and CRM capabilities in an integrated fashion through the cloud, which will enable the latter to gain rapid entry into the UK market.

Under the deal, Convio will pay about $2.9m in cash and may also shell out an additional $0.4m cash upon the successful achievement of performance targets payable over three and a half years.

Baigent achieved break-even revenue of about $2m last year and Convio plans to speed up its UK investment in this year and 2012 to take advantage of this opportunity.
