Connectify has begun a Kickstarter campaign to launch Connectify Switchboard, the company’s new cloud service that lets Mac and PC users combine multiple Internet connections for faster speeds and increased reliability.
It is hoped that the Connectify Switchboard will give consumers the power to leverage up to 95% of the combined speed of every Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, and wired connection available to their computer.
Switchboard users will have the ability to speed up single-socket applications like uploads to Dropbox and Google Drive, streaming videos on YouTube and Netflix, as well as VPN access.
After successfully launching Connectify Dispatch, the company’s PC-only load-balancing software on Kickstarter last year, Connectify has opted to return to the crowdfunding site to rally support for the new Switchboard technology.
Alex Gizis , founder and CEO of Connectify, said: "A valuable part of our first Kickstarter experience was the feedback we received from backers throughout the development process.
"With the help of our backers, we were able to deliver the Connectify Dispatch software on schedule. Now, customers and Kickstarter backers have told us that they want a new connection aggregation technology: one that is Mac-compatible, and can speed up single-socket applications like video streaming, uploads, and VPNs."
As a cloud service, the new Switchboard Kickstarter project is inherently much broader in scope than its predecessor. In addition to developing sleek and intuitive Switchboard client software (this time for Mac and PC), the Connectify Team must also deploy a worldwide infrastructure of Speed Servers that will ensure that users can enjoy enhanced connection speeds no matter where they are.
"Our team has been planning the rollout of these Speed Servers for the better part of a year," said Gizis. "We already have servers up-and-running in the US, Europe, and Asia, so I’m confident that we’ll be able to further deploy the server infrastructure necessary to support Switchboard users around the world."
