nline backup applications firm Carbonite has added a new functionality to backup network attached storage (NAS) devices via Carbonite Business, the back up plan for SMBs.

The NAS backup functionality will enable Carbonite’s off site data centres to back up small and medium sized businesses’ (SMBs) on-premise backup application, adding a layer of data redundancy and protection.

The new functionality allows SMBs to back up the contents of the NAS devices to the cloud and users to access their important data from the cloud from any internet-connected device.

Carbonite Business and Carbonite BusinessPremier will offer SMBs an application to safeguard their valuable business data and files by automatically backing them up.

The premier back up plan will enable users can to back up servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2011.

NAS backup functionality will enable SMBs users to add files and folders saved on an external drive to their online backup.

The functionality also includes a simple dashboard that can be accessed from any computer connected to the internet and lets the manager check the backup status for multiple computers, invite new users, monitor the company’s backup storage level and purchase additional storage, if needed.
