Canon and Fujitsu are planning to collaborate on cloud computing-based managed services for printing and other IT equipment.

The companies will jointly offer Canon managed document services, which provides support in management of document input-output environments, combined with Fujitsu’s Workplace LCM Services that provides support for IT resources.

According to Fujitsu, the services will combine Canon’s print management and operations technologies with Fujitsu’s cloud-based IT management services to deliver managed services for multi-function office equipment, printers and IT equipment.

The combination of Canon’s strengths in printing and Fujitsu’s strengths in IT services is expected to enable the one-stop delivery of managed services for multi-function office equipment, printers and IT equipment.

The technologies from both the companies will be linked to create a platform for managed services, which allows software and information services to be accessed via the internet. In addition, the services from collaboration are also expected to deliver new added value by addressing the requirements in areas such as the environment and security.

Further, the companies will also plan to enhance their alliance and joint marketing efforts and collaborate on business planning and establishing a support system. From March 2010, Canon Marketing Japan and Fujitsu will jointly begin offering these services to companies in Japan.

Earlier, the companies have jointly collaborated in building and operating a variety of systems such as internet-based remote maintenance services for printers and multi-function office systems and a license authentication management system for Canon products.
