Brocade and the Enterprise Mobility Solutions business unit of Motorola have entered into a strategic agreement to collaborate on wireless LAN (WLAN), voice-over-WLAN, mobile unified communications/fixed mobile convergence (FMC), cloud computing and wireless broadband technologies.
The companies have established an OEM reseller agreement, through which, Brocade will rebrand and resell a number of Motorola’s enterprise wireless LAN offerings and resell Motorola wireless security products as an extension of its own IP/Ethernet product portfolio.
The companies said that the strategic collaboration will enable the integration of Motorola’s core wireless LAN technologies and Brocade’s wired networking technologies to deliver unified management of wired and wireless infrastructures. Motorola’s AirDefense security suite will also be integrated to provide the benefits of advanced intrusion prevention and security policy enforcement for wired and wireless networks.
This collaboration also lays the foundation for a new category of wireless and mobility services delivered by service providers using cloud enabled infrastructure offerings from Motorola and Brocade.
The vision behind the collaborative effort is to revolutionise the deployment and management of enterprise mobility offerings through the use of cloud computing architectures and enable voice, video and data applications to work over any network, such as 3G, 4G or WiFi, the companies said.
Gene Delaney, president of Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions, said: Motorola looks forward to working closely with Brocade to meet the evolving networking and mobility needs of customers. The relationship opens the opportunity to offer the highest performance end-to-end wired and wireless business network solutions. Brocade’s strong IP/Ethernet brand recognition and existing routes to market give both us and our customers the opportunity for growth.
