BMC Software has acquired privately held GridApp Systems, a provider of automating database provisioning, patching and administration.

The acquisition will expand BMC Software’s current offering of application, server, network and client configuration management to include database automation, allowing full stack end-to-end enterprise application deployment and management.

The company said that the GridApp Systems offering reduces the cost, complexity and risk associated with deploying and configuring enterprise databases in physical, virtual and cloud environments.

In addition, the GridApp offering is already integrated with BMC BladeLogic Server Automation and is currently in use by multiple joint customers.

BMC service automation vice president and general manager Scott Fulton said the acquisition of GridApp not only adds substantive automation capabilities to their portfolio, but also strengthens the overall BSM platform, creating the most efficient, consistent and comprehensive path to IT value in the industry today.
