IBM is continuing to develop its support for the OpenStack cloud computing platform with a number of additional services.

The services are designed to help clients to integrate applications and data across all forms of cloud environments.

Big Blue has added expanded access to public cloud, which it hopes will allow companies to deploy and integrate application environments faster than was previously capable.

Other improvements are aimed at security and speed, with tools to monitor the cloud environments and security controls to ensure that the cloud is built securely.

Angel Diaz, VP, Cloud Architecture and Technology, IBM, said: "As a top contributor to OpenStack, IBM firmly believes that an open cloud architecture translates into significant cost savings for our clients and will rapidly expand the cloud marketplace."

"By delivering a complete portfolio of OpenStack services to the market, we are enabling our clients with what they need to move applications and data across multiple cloud environments without fear of getting locked into a single cloud environment."

IBM is also continuing to invest in its supercomputing platform Watson, with investment in WayBlazer, a travel search and discovery company. This move is aimed at using Watson’s cognitive computing to allow customers to plan and personalise travel.
