A whole host of media services have been activated on Microsoft Azure which will now allow users to carry out text searches of audio and video content.

An update to Azure Media Services, the package offers streaming services running on a content distribution network that claims to offer global video delivery.

The new ‘cloud-first’ media services pack includes HD-quality live streaming and end-to-end content protection capabilities, and a new service that says it can simplify indexing audio and video, thus making search easier.

Sudheer Sirivata, partner director of engineering at Azure Media Services, said: "Broadcasters and premium content owners spend significant amounts of money and resources each year to host, manage, support and distribute their media.

"Now with Azure Media Services, customers can move that infrastructure to the cloud — with support for live and on-demand content — and focus on what really matters to their business and customers: creating, monetizing and distributing content to more customers on more devices."
