Amazon Web Services customers can now more easily turn to hybrid cloud thanks to the deployment of Cloudian technology on the AWS Marketplace.
The company, which offers software-defined smart data storage and a compatible Amazon Simple Storage Service as an object storage provider, revealed that its HyperStore software is now available on the AWS Marketplace.
This means that customers will be able to deploy it in their infrastructure and centralise visibility of usage and billing through their AWS monthly invoice.
In essence this can lead to the creation of a hybrid solution that stores and uses data in the cloud with AWS and on-premise with Cloudian.
AWS hasn’t really built a reputation for itself as having a hybrid cloud offering, although it is certainly capable of doing so, which means that this offering should be particularly interesting for customers that want to have that hybrid cloud model.
Barry Russell, GM, global business development, AWS Marketplace and catalogue services, AWS, said: “As more organisations take advantage of the cloud to reduce IT and data centre complexity, Amazon S3 object storage is becoming a preferred standard for new applications in many companies.
“Cloudian’s Amazon S3-compatible object storage is available to procure and deploy from AWS Marketplace, making it easier for customers to have a complete hybrid storage solution.”
The HyperStore object storage is a peer-to-peer software defined platform that is designed to enable enterprise and solution providers to built full-features S3 compatible cloud storage in a variet of capacities.
One of the additional benefits of this is the simplified billing aspect, which Informatica is also going for with the launch of ‘pay-as-you-go’ cloud offerings in the AWS Marketplace.
The data management company revealed that five Informatica Cloud offerings will be available at an hourly price, as well as by annual subscription.
The offerings are designed to help organisations of all sizes to quickly and cost-effectively jumpstart data management projects on AWS.
To sweeten the deal the company is including a 15 day free trial.
One of the offerings that will appear is Informatica Cloud for Amazon Redshift, and customers may also utilise additional AWS services such as S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon DynamoDB, or Amazon Aurora.
Basically customers will be able to use Informatica Cloud on AWS Marketplace to jumpstart a Redshift prototype or initial project. Then the user will be able to scale with Informatica Cloud to load high data volumes from any cloud or on-premise source into a Redshift cluster.
