Marc Andreessen’s new company is called Loudcloud Inc, which will be providing all an internet start-up needs to get going apparently, although details will not be announced until early in the new year. However, we do know that it will be more of a product company than a pure services firm and some of the software will be produced in house.

With Andreessen as chairman comes co-founder Ben Horowitz as CEO, formerly head of the directory and security divisions at Netscape and the AOL shopping platform groups; co-founder and CTO Tim Howes, who is the co-inventor of LDAP and another Netscapee; Sik Rhee, VP of strategy and co-founder of Kiva Software, which was acquired by Netscape in 1997; Jonathan Heiliger, VP operations and formerly CTO of Frontier GlobalCenter and formed Frontier Internet Ventures; and Scott Dunlap as director of products, who was VP e-commerce solutions at E.piphany. The company is funded by the three co-founders and is based in Menlo Park, California.
