AIMES Grid Services acquired its second data centre in Liverpool in a deal funded by Santander.

The £2.6 million acquisition of the 35,000 square ft. Kilby House hub took place in late June.

The data centre is based in Liverpool’s Innovation Park and boasts 1.5 megawatts of energy.

Next to its first data centre at Baird House, Kilby House hosts an SN UPS and electrical infrastructure with N+1 standby power and cooling systems.

The company said the hub’s cooling systems were designed to save 3000 tonnes of CO2 a year and hopes the building will help propel Liverpool to the forefront of the UK digital technology industry.

In 2014 AIMES received £2.6 Million in funding from Santander’s Breakthrough Programme in order to purchase Kilby House, including £800,000 in Growth Capital Funding.
