Acer America has unveiled a portfolio of server and storage offerings that supports the full spectrum of applications from SMBs, labs, remote sites, government installations and data centres, including the cloud computing facilities and high performance computing (HPC) operations.

The new suite of server and storage products include tower, rack, blade and multi-node offerings that are based on Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron processors and are designed to deliver quality through vertically integrated, US based manufacturing.

The suite is supported by service offering and expertise in virtualisation, multi-node architectures and other technologies that are required for implementing complete offerings in today’s business and professional computing environments.

In addition, the suite of offerings supports the release of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Microsoft’s comprehensive virtualisation capabilities.

Acer has also partnered with Hitachi Data Systems, to integrate tailored storage offerings into its server offerings for enhanced storage performance and simplified storage management.

Acer said that it will be offering solutions in the US for all server platforms including tower, rack, multi-node and blade platforms.

Acer servers and storage worldwide business development vice president Gianluca Degliesposti said their initial family of 16 server offerings leverages on virtualisation, multi-node architectures and HPC to meet needs in cloud computing and other complex computing applications.
